Rural Bus Services - Call For Evidence
If you live in a rural community, you'll likely be familiar with the challenges that cuts or changes to bus service timetables and routes create for local people, especially younger and older people who don't have access to a car.
While the Scottish Government encourage greater use of public transport as a means to reduce car journeys and carbon emissions, a lack of regular scheduled buses in rural areas can this an unachievable objective.
As the transport voice for rural and island communities across Scotland, SRITC are building an evidence base using feedback from our members that shines a light on the impact that cuts and changes are having on people they know who are dependent on buses.
We are also interested in hearing about good news stories that include steps that local people have taken to introduce new community operated bus or even car share services.
